Creating Solidarity with God in the Sacred Space of Life

Sacred spaces and getaway places are necessary for the victorious life we all desire. Creating solidarity with God in the sacred space of everyday life costs us greatly. Undeniably, the desire to be strong and courageous lies within us all. No one wants to experience defeat on an ongoing basis. So, how do we create the sacred space where God can show up and show out in our lives?

Intentional, Sacred Spaces

Being intentional about our time with God takes discipline and requires us to steal away like Jesus did in the wilderness or surrounding hills. Maybe you’re not much of an outdoorsman, I’m certainly not. I prefer a quiet, comfy spot where I can get personal with God. An introvert at heart, I’m not prone to wander about in search of the perfect spot to meet with God. However, if that’s you, then, by all means, go for a walk, find a stream, or climb a mountain. God will meet you there.

Most importantly, make an appointment with God and keep it.

If Jesus needed this time away with God, we do too. In order to walk in wholeness and live in victory, we must create solidarity with God in a sacred space in our lives. What will be our cost of entry? Surrender, obedience, and great courage. Are you lacking in any of those today?

Oftentimes, we shy away from the sacred spaces with God because we don’t feel up to the challenge. Unfortunately, distractions, self-will, and the trials of life stand at the door and frighten us from entering in. However, the very things we need are found in the sacred space with God. When we push past our feelings and go to the place of further still or even if not, we find God shows up in mighty ways. The surrender of our will to His brings transformation and stirs up faith to believe God is good all the time.

It’s the sacred space where we meet God

After all, it’s in this believing in the innate goodness of God no matter what comes our way where we find our deepest desires met. When we’re willing to set aside our insecurities and fears, something sacred occurs. Here, God reveals Himself to us in deeper ways. He soothes our pain and comforts our hearts in the sacred space of intentional time spent in the presence of God. Truthfully, there’s a place where no-one else can go but us. It’s a sacred space where we meet God alone.

Beyond the borders of much-needed community, God meets us in the midst of the mundane and instills courage, passion, and intentionality within us. From this place, God makes us brave.Click To Tweet

The sacred space transforms us

sacred spaces intimacy God

Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace (see Daniel 3:16-28), our mantra will become, “Even if not, we will serve the Lord.” Again, like Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane (see Matthew 26:36-46), our cries change to, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” And, like Abraham (see Genesis 22:9-13), when the ultimate sacrifice is required, our reasoning sings out, “God will provide.” Remarkably, this is what happens in the sacred space where we find solidarity and unity with God. Through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, victory is ours; we become like Him just as God said we would. Truthfully, the more we enter, the more victorious we become. And, victory is what we want.

In the end, living a life of victory reveals God in us. The intentional creating of this sacred space with God is vital to our walk with God. Certainly, the world counts on us to reveal His goodness and share our stories. And, God’s Kingdom is at stake. Will you become intentional in your pursuit of God this year? Will you make an appointment with God and keep it?

This quote from Streams in the Desert defines the sacred space we want to create with God. Our greatest endeavors to get it right with God are unnecessary. He just wants us all to Himself for a few moments everyday. Fully focused and intentional in our pursuit of this sacred space, we will enter in and receive exactly what we need for the day.

We will be victorious!

Every life that would be strong must have its Holy of Holies into which only God enters. ~Mrs. Chas. E. Cowman, Steams in the Desert, 1925

I have grown so fond of this sacred space. It looks different now than it did 30 years ago, but it’s always such a sweet, sweet time. Thank for you for this encouraging post. Intimate time with God transforms us.

I agree- it changes with time and age, but still so sweet. Thanks for commenting.
