Liar, Liar, pants on fire! Really, have you ever considered yourself a big fat liar?

I mean, how often do you believe the lies you tell yourself? If our enemy is a liar, I’ve been partnering with him for far too long. Lately, I’ve been my own worst critic. I think it’s time for a change. Instead of believing lies, what would happen if we let loose the liar within ourselves and started believing God’s word. Basically, loose means to set free.

loose (verb)
\ ˈlüs \
loosed; loosing
Definition of loose (Entry 2 of 3)
(transitive verb)
1a : to let loose (see LOOSE entry 1) : RELEASE loosed the dogs on the prowlers
b : to free from restraint
2 : to make loose : UNTIE loose a knot
3 : to cast loose : DETACH loosed the boat from its moorings— George Eliot

Therefore, I decided it was high-time (that’s Southern for now) to silence the enemy and loose the liar within.

loose the liar within boost confidence conquer your enemy

To tell the truth, I’m perplexed about what the scriptures mean when Jesus told his disciples “whatever you loose on earth will be loosed and whatever you bind will be bound.” I kind of feel like saying a big fat, “Whatever!” about that to myself and dismissing it as too hard to understand. But, there’s a lot of commentary out there on these verses and concepts; it’s quite lengthy and a bit confusing too. While I’ll never pretend to be a Bible scholar, I love how The Passion Translation reads in Matthew 16:19, “I will give you the keys of heaven’s kingdom realm to forbid on earth that which is forbidden in heaven, and to release on earth that which is released in heaven.”

Though I tread lightly;  I believe this tells me I have all the authority of heaven over the enemy of my soul. God’s got my back and He has yours too, which means, we can tell the enemy where to go…right back to Hell where he belongs. My hope is to boost your confidence and help you conquer the enemy today!

With that said, let’s talk about loosing the liar within.

Permission granted! God gave us the authority over our enemy so let’s use it. I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired of the enemy getting an upper hand in my thought life. Really, aren’t you? I’m completely over it! Done! Finished! If you are too, read on sister!

Honestly, when I finally decided I couldn't stand to listen to the enemy's voice another stinking day, I think all of Heaven applauded.Click To Tweet

You know, we do have a crowd of witnesses cheering us on. Go read Hebrews 12:1-2 in The Passion Translation (please, come right back though) and I know you’ll be ready to put up your own fight in this area today. It’s inspiring to know we have so many who’ve gone before us. I love how those scriptures tell us our way has already been marked out for us. Above all, we have to run the race; and, therein lies the issue for me. I hate running. Yes, I said the “H” word and the “W” word both in these first two paragraphs; sorry. But, y’all, as much as I hate running, I’m really mad. Finally, I’m determined to do something about it. Without question, I want you to walk in as much freedom as possible. Rant over.

Confession Time: This is the biggest lie I believe:

One of the biggest lies I believe is I’m not enough. Often, I feel like I don’t have what it takes to do the big things God’s called me to do here in His Kingdom. When I compare myself to others, I believe the lie that there’s not room for my voice in the mass of other amazingly talented writers. When I compare myself, I lose my joy. And, losing my joy makes me mad. No, no, no, not at you, but, definitely at the enemy. I’m finally getting mad enough to put a stop to it because, comparison is a thief of joy. And, I’m not okay with being stolen from any longer. Think about it; what’s been robbing you of your joy lately? Perhaps, you’re getting mad enough to fight your liar too?

Comparison is thief of joy

Here’s a 3 step plan to silence the enemy and loose the liar within:

  1. Stop all agreements with the lies and align yourself with God’s word.
  2. Cut ties with the enemy and bind yourself to God’s way.
  3. Change your battle cry and mindset to line up with God’s will.

Astonishingly, trading the lies, ties, and cries for Gods’s word, His way, and His will shakes up the spirit realm. Consequently, our stand creates a mighty big uproar in the heavenlies. There’s a battle going on and while we don’t want to become ‘see a devil, there a devil, every where a devil, devil’ kind of girls, we must be aware.

Unfortunately, there will always be a battlefield in our mind. Fortunately, we are Victory Girls who know how to live the victorious life. Are you ready for a new battle cry? Raise your hand and your voice and let the enemy know you mean business.

Joyce Meyer says, “You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.”

Practically speaking, how do we rout the enemy and loose the liar within?

Now, it’s great to have a 3-step plan, but plans don’t work without our participation. To be honest, it’s always like that with God. Nope, He’s not a magic genie. Without exception, God wants to partner with us to perform the miracle within us every single time. To break agreement with the enemy’s lies, scripture is our ammunition. In order to cut ties with the enemy, prayer is the mightiest weapon we have in our arsenal. And, changing our battle cry requires us to change our mindset and then, our own voice defeats the enemy.

Scripture brings the light of God’s word into our situation. As a result, God’s truth overshadows the lies we’ve been believing. First, we find a Bible verse that is the exact opposite of what the enemy wants us to believe. Secondly, we pull that scripture out every time the lie surfaces. Over time, we begin to believe God’s word. Only then do we break all agreements with the lies of the enemy. At that point, God’s truth becomes our new mindset in agreement and authority over our situations. That’s some powerful ammunition in the heat of the battle, wouldn’t you say?

Breaking Agreement with the Lies

  • You say, “I’ll never overcome my enemy and (fill in the blank).” You isolate yourself.
  • God’s word says, “There is only one strong, safe, and secure place for me; it’s in God alone and I love him! He’s the One who gives me strength and skill for the battle. He’s my Shelter of Love and Fortress of faith, who wraps himself around me as a secure shield. I hide myself in this One who subdues enemies before me!” (Psalm 144:1-2 TPT)

  • You say, “I can’t forgive myself for (fill in the blank). You berate yourself.
  • God’s word says, “God is sheer mercy and grace; not easily angered, he’s rich in love. He doesn’t endlessly nag and scold, nor hold grudges forever. He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve, nor pay us back in full for our wrongs. As high as heaven is over the earth, so strong is his love to those who fear him. And as far as sunrise is from sunset, he has separated us from our sins.” (Psalm 103:8-12 MSG)

Cutting Ties with the Enemy and Choosing God’s Way

Seriously, cutting ties with the enemy will be the very act that brings you the most freedom in your quest to loose the liar within. Satan is the father of lies. According to John 8:44 there is no truth found in him. Even more, when the enemy speaks, he speaks his native language of lies because he is liar. When we hear the voice of the enemy, it’s all lies. Unfortunately, we still believe the lies. Therefore, prayer becomes our mightiest weapon in the battlefield of our minds. Ephesians 6 tells us prayer is an ‘essential weapon and we should pray long and hard.’ Sorry, a wimpy prayer of “help me!” isn’t going to cut these ties. Sometimes that’s all we’ve got, but come on now, you know I’m going to give you a prayer to use until you write one of your own. So, here it is:

PRAYER FOR CUTTING TIES WITH THE ENEMY OF YOUR SOUL

Father God, my heart belongs to You, alone. Please remove any divisiveness in my heart of hearts and give me the mind of Christ. Help me call to mind Your truths to overrule the enemy’s lies. Right now, in Jesus’ powerful name, I cut all ties, known and unknown with the enemy of my soul. Jesus, You came to give me life more abundantly and I declare I will walk in Your truth all of my days. Bind my heart to Yours afresh and anew today, Lord. I will not conform to the image of this world any longer; please renew my mind through Holy Spirit and help me to discern Your will and live in Your ways.  I love You, Lord. Amen

Changing Your Battle Cry to Loose the Liar Within

Lastly, we’re going to declare out loud our new way of thinking about ourselves. Using our voices sets the tone for real change in our lives. Oftentimes, we’ve been crying through our battles instead of shouting our battle cry loud and clear. Moving beyond our tears to overcome our fears and silence the enemy takes great courage. I know, I’ve been there.

Like David, in Psalm 42, tears have been my main meal source. Although necessary, that’s not a healthy diet. God holds every one of your tears in a bottle, but He also turns our weeping into dancing. I’d say it’s time for some dancing!  And, yes, while you are dancing, I want you to rehearse these declarations out loud. Make them your new battle cry as you send the enemy packing and rewrite your story!

The Truth-tellers Battle Cry to Loose the Liar Within

  • I am a no longer a slave; I am a chosen daughter of the King.
  • God’s word is the authority in my life; I am a lover of God.
  • God’s truth is easily recognizable because I know when I hear it, His voice is love.
  • I walk boldly in God’s ways because I hear the voice of my Master, Jesus only.
  • I am forgiven, redeemed, and renewed day-to-day.
  • Through Holy Spirit, I am made for more in Christ and live abundantly and victoriously.
  • I am unbound, I am free

Sweet girl, you are free. Absolutely, one hundred percent, you are completely free to believe the truth of what God says about you. Through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, you’ve been given everything you need to be victorious and whole in Christ. No longer bound, no longer blind, no longer beaten up by the lies, you are loosed to believe the truth of God over your life! Always, my prayer is for you to walk in wholeness and live in every bit of victory Jesus died on the cross to give you! It’s all yours!

Declare the goodness of God over your life!

Step out on the battlefields of life in the confidence of knowing Whose you are. Changing our mindset is an ongoing battle. Therefore, I hope you’ll stop back by here often and learn more about what God says about you. It’s my heart’s desire for you to break free from the bull-crap of the enemy and live your most victorious life. (oops, I did it again. three in one post…)

I’m just being real with y’all. Truthfully, I am desperate for you to know what you’re up against and know you can win! Truth is, our enemy is a liar and he has no ground to stand on. Most importantly, you do; you have the solid ground of truth to stand upon. God’s word is your foundation, His ways are your path, and His will is your guide.

Loose Liar Send Enemy Packing

Finally, it is time to listen to God’s truth:

Arise, my dearest. Hurry, my darling.
Come away with me!
I have come as you have asked
to draw you to my heart and lead you out.
For now is the time, my beautiful one. Song of Songs 2:10 (TPT)

Surprisingly, there’s a big fat reason to celebrate. Amidst all this warfare, we are destined for victory. I found a quote I’ll close with today and give you one last piece of advice. Honestly, just enjoy the journey. Don’t get hung up on all this warfare. There’s dancing and laughing and rejoicing in the here and now, especially when we learn to send the enemy packing! After that, we get to rewrite our story with God. Our new story will be filled with victory, courage, and most of all, truth, God’s truth.

Life is just a bowl of cherries, don’t take it serious, its mysterious. Life is just a bowl of cherries, so live and laugh and laugh at love, love a laugh, laugh and love.

~ Bob Fosse, choreographer

life is bowl of cherries

I love this post because all too often we speak lies instead of Life to ourselves.

This is such powerful, freedom-releasing truth! One of my most cumbersome and on-going struggles is listening to the lies of the enemy. I’m learning to ask for God’s help in discerning the truth because when we’re deceived we often don’t know we’re deceived! But as you say, we are destined for victory and I’m reaching out to grab hold. Thanks for writing. Your Colorado neighbor, Cathy

Thanks Cathy! Love that you’re in Colorado too! We must meet for coffee sometime. While this is and will be an ongoing struggle, I do believe we can continue to have victory and gain new ground. Thank you for your comment and hang on tight girl! Amy Elaine
