Psalm 27 is our Fearless Anthem.
It calls us to confidence, cheerfulness, clarity, and courage.

As the psalmist moves through his prayer—calling out, crying out to God, he comes to a place of calm contentment in verse 13.

“I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

No, he hasn’t seen it yet.
He is in a waiting season where hope must rise up while he continues to watch and wonder “how long, Lord?”

Yet, he finishes with these words, “Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and
let your heart take COURAGE;
Yes, wait for the Lord.”

This psalm begins with a declaration of Who God is in times of dread where devastation threatens to devour what hope remains. Fear is at the threshold, yet in spite of his foes, David says with holy confidence,
“My heart will not fear.”
