I met my younger self for coffee today
The “I met my younger self for coffee today” trend has been such a treat to read on everyone’s feed…so here goes…
Here are my coffee date notes:
We both stumbled through the door in a rush to be the first to arrive.
I stepped aside and held the door for her knowing she was as nervous as I was excited – both of us hoping to be loved by the other.
She ordered something full-fat & syrupy sweet that she’d burn off in a New York minute while I stuck to a non-dairy chai I’d regret later.
She asked me if we ever settle down, make good choices, and stop living on the wild side or if we’re still going round the same mountain again and again.
I told her we finally get over being addicted to the chaos, fall wildly in love with a Man who shows us that love is less of an emotional rollercoaster jerking you back and forth and more like a Sunday drive in a convertible with the wind in your hair – a wild ride but a great adventure.
She looked hesitant and asked me how we finally change our bad behavior and find our way.
I told her
grace paves the way & victory is our destiny.
As she got up to leave, I took her by the hand and said, “Trust your gut, girl, you know better… listen to that still small voice because He’ll tell you when to turn to the left or the right, to stay or go, & when enough is enough…
(long pause)
and, hey, in case no one’s told you lately, I love you; someday you’ll find the courage to love yourself back to life at the feet of Jesus. Don’t give up.”
She said, “Thanks; let’s do this more often… I need you.”
I wished her happy trails until we meet again…
I hope you enjoy my attempt at self-reflection through poetry and journaling and trending topics that make me feel a little uncomfortable with myself but oh so glad for the freedom I’ve found. 🤷♀️
Truly, I am a broken girl made whole again(name of my blog ☺️) through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. Id love to say, He made me do it, but he didn’t; Jesus wooed me until I began to trust his words more than the lies I’d believed.
