The Messy Middle

John 9 tells the story of the man who once was blind but now can see—all because of Jesus.

He was blind.
He obeyed Jesus command without hesitation.
He was healed.
He was ridiculed and thrown out into the streets.
The Pharisees treated him like dirt.

Jesus heard about what happened and went to search for him.

Jesus found the man and asked him one question:
“Do you believe in the Son of God?”

The man was unsure of who his Rescuer was and asked Jesus to point out who He was so he might believe in Him—

Jesus says,
“You’re looking right at Him.”

Then Jesus asks the man a poignant question that pricked my heart today:
“Don’t you recognize my voice?”

Immediately, the man says, “Master, I believe!”

Sometimes the Word pricks my heart and it stings for just a moment—then Grace tilts my chin up, reminding me to ‘listen closely, sweet girl, you know His voice.”

When the world gets loud and the noise gets louder, sometimes we have a hard time deciphering whose voice is the One we need to follow. While God’s voice isn’t always the loudest, it is the strongest.

When fear sets in, the cacophony of voices seems overwhelming…the messy middle often brings the most freedom from our fears.

Fearless may mean being messy, muddy, and miserable, but MOVING FORWARD anyway:

Swipe ↔️ through the pics for ways to silent the enemy and hear God’s voice above the din of thieves trying to steal your confidence.

din = loud and long unpleasant noise

poignant = evoking a keen sense of sadness or regret; in Old French, the archaic sense is “pricking”

When the Bible points out Jesus asking a question, there is something he wants to prick our hearts with to cause us to know Him better—to recognize His voice.
