The Sacred Place of STILL
In a day when we are constantly being told to hustle, God says, “Be still.”
Often, our reply is, “But, I don’t know how, Lord.” We simply don’t know how to be still with God, yet alone with ourselves. Really, we don’t know how to be still with anyone because we are prone to wander—in our hearts and in our minds. God knows this and so much more. Yet, still He calls to us.
He beckons us to come away with Him to the quiet place, the sacred space of STILL.
Still here.
Still love you.
Still working.
Still interceding.
Still in control.
Still coming back one day.
Still God.
3 Ways Being Still Becomes Sacred Ground
- Being still is the place where God whispers the hidden things into the deepest crevices of our hearts.
- Being still is the way Holy Spirit expands our capacity for the more God has for us in the here and now.
- Being still is how Jesus weaves His holiness into the fibers of our whole heart to purify us to be His bride.
On Earth as it is in Heaven
It’s here in the stillness where we learn just how deep, how high, how long and how wide the love of God truly is for us. This is merely a pre-taste of glory divine—of the “on earth as it is in heaven” we’ve prayed over our lives. For, as believers, we are preparing for Christ’s return. These days, it seems imminent. As the world feels out of control and whispers of the end of days are heard around the globe, the Book of Zechariah points us to that glorious day when the Lord will dwell in our midst. His words seem to shout, “The Lord is on the way.”
People Get Ready
Maybe you’ve heard the old song, “People Get Ready.” Well, that time is here; it is now. The question ever before us: How do we prepare ourselves? If we want to be ready, we must know the signs…what to watch for. Fortunately, God knew we’d need to learn the ancient ways of being still. Long ago, He gave us Zechariah’s words of hope for the days when we forget. Zechariah gently reminds us of this sacred place called STILL.
“Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.” Zechariah 2:13 NIV
God Is On The Move, Yet Longs for Us to BE STILL
The Lord knows we need to be with Him now to prepare ourselves for Eternity. We have an enemy who would love to distract the world enough to miss out on the very thing, the Person who satisfies most. What we’re longing for in the crowds—to be seen, known, heard, validated—will never meet the deep need for Eternity. To be in God’s Presence for all our days, that’s what we’re really longing for in this world and our enemy knows it. Thus, the ever-mounting distraction to take our eyes off Jesus prevails
There is an all-out war raging for our attention. Things may seem to be at a standstill. However, in this posture of waiting—in this place, we learn what it means to both be still and watch and wait. Though seemingly counterintuitive, in our stillness, God is moving. Yes, in this sacred space, there is much activity in the unseen.

Yet, in our stillness, the Enemy trembles, terrified we will begin to take God at His word, believing all that He says about us. And then after we have learned to linger a little longer every day, God says:
“Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away, for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come,
and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree ripens its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.” Song of Solomon 2:10-13 ESV
Be still, darling.
Everything you long for is found when you learn to be still in My Presence. Listen and in the stillness of the chaos that surrounds, you will begin to hear the still small voice of God singing over you.
“Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the LORD. Zechariah 2:10 NIV
I Am…
Still here.
Still in love with you.
Still working.
Still interceding.
Still in control.
Still coming back one day.
Still God.
Come. Sit. Be with Me in this sacred space, called STILL.
